Chapter 22

Myra yawned, stretching her arms over her head as she headed to her kitchen and grabbed a cookie to munch on. She’d spent the whole of the day with her father. After lunch, they’d gone shopping and he’d insisted on paying for everything she was buying. As a result, she had loads of shopping bags in her room. She still had to open them and put everything in place. Post that, she’d dropped her father back to Tiya’s house as he had dinner plans with Tiya’s parents before he caught the return flight home.

She was so glad that her father was on her side. It was a relief and a load off her shoulders that he knew the truth now. The only issue that now remained was Yug. But he had been completely silent since the previous night and she hated that he was leaving without concluding things between them. She’d hoped for a chance to talk to him, but he wasn’t responding to her calls and texts. He was behaving difficult and she hated being at odds with him.

They’d been friends since childhood and she needed him to understand that she’d never see him in the way he wanted her to. The heart wants what it wants and she didn’t want Yug.

She wanted…Shaurya.

She exhaled. He was constantly on her mind and now that she’d accepted that she was falling for him, it was quite hard not to think of him. She hated that he refused to listen to her, and he’d once again made assumptions about her without knowing the truth.

She’d told herself that she’d never force herself on a man or even beg for his attention and so she would forget Shaurya Rajpoot if that was the last thing she did. She deserved better, someone who understood her and he was not that man, no matter the chemistry they shared.

She headed toward her bedroom, intent to call it a night. Suddenly, her doorbell rang. She squinted looking in the direction of the living room. Tiya was working today—she was at some resort dressing a bride—and she wasn’t expecting anyone else. She headed to the door and opened it. Her jaw dropped when she saw Yug at her doorstep.

“Yug,” she squeaked. “What are you doing here?”

“May I come in? I want to talk.”

She ran a quick glance over herself. Thankfully, she was decently attired in a pair of leggings and a loose t-shirt.

She splayed a hand for him to enter, shutting the door behind him. He took a moment to survey her living space and the open kitchen beyond. Both, her dad and Yug knew her address. She’d texted it to them the minute she’d arrived in Dubai.

She studied Yug while he looked around her house. He was tall, lean and fair with dark hair cropped close to his head and dark brown eyes. Dressed in blue denims, a light blue polo t-shirt and a brown jacket, he looked sharp and handsome. Unfortunately, she felt nothing when she looked at him.
